American Champion Dreamweaver's Heineken, CD, HT, TC, CGC, TDI, GSDCA 13 (D316665), or Bear (for short), was the second stud dog that we used at Hinterland German Shepherds. Bear is OFA Excellent (GS18728E25M-T, H&E). His eyes are also CERF'd. Bear has 3 lines to Am.Select Am./Can.Ch. Caralon's Hein vd Lockenheim, CD, ROM, OFA Excellent.
We bred Maxine to Bear in 1991. In August, Maxine whelped her third litter. We kept one male - Boz - and one female - Hilda. We re-acquired another female - Nixie.
Bear was featured as a new
Champion in the Best of '91, edited by Gail Sprock. Carol Pitlock, Bear's
breeder and owner wrote:
If I could bottle Bear's animation and sell it, I would be wealthy! He is quite a clown, and his enthusiasm for the ring (both conformation and obedience) generates many comments. At the 1990 National Specialty, Bear's winning attitude was focused on obedience and herding, resulting in a leg on each title. He has just finished his CD and is now in training for his CDX.
Bear will be seven years old in October. He is in his prime, contrary to many of the dogs we see now in the conformation ring. At the 1991 National Specialty, I plan to show him in Veterans (conformation), Graduate Novice (obedience) and herding.
Bear is large, masculine and has excellent temperament, full dentition, rich pigment and dark eyes. He has an iron back, a "spectacular sidegait" according to one judge, and is clean coming and going. He is OFA Excellent (H&E) out of OFA Good (H&E) parents.
As of this writing, Bear has four litters on the ground, three of them under six weeks of age. He has a high sperm count - his first litter conceived through one AI (Artificial Insemination) resulted in 11 puppies! He also carries a black recessive gene. Hopefully, you'll be seeing Bear's "cubs" in the ring soon!
